A meeting with the delegation led by the General Director of “Georgia Railways” JSC David Peradze was held at “Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint Stock Company.
At the meeting, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov updated the guests on the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgian railways, the transport and logistics opportunities of the country and the reforms carried out in the railway field.
He provided detailed information on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, North-South and South-West transport corridors, and the International Trans-Caspian Transportation Route. He noted that the strengthening of international routes is aimed at increasing the transit potential of the participating countries. Strengthening the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, Gurbanov noted that this route is global and is the shortest and reliable link between Europe and Asia. Therefore, the interest in this route has increased since its commissioning. Then the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the railways of two countries.
Director General of “Georgian Railways” JSC David Peradze said the launch of this railway line would be a major contribution to stability in the region, to economic development and closer ties between our peoples. Presently, seizing the capabilities of this route goods is transported from China, Central Asia to Turkey and in the opposite direction, passing through Azerbaijan and Georgia.
A protocol on prospects of bilateral cooperation was signed at the end of the meeting.
